The Gingerbreads Only Aim Is Three Points

7 months ago By Simon Hayes

The Gingerbreads go into their penultimate home game of the season with one thing on their minds-a win.

Having drawn their recent home games manager Adam Stevens believes that only a return to winning ways will be good enough to keep them in the play off mix.”The only thing missing in recent games has been the chance conversion, we created enough to have given Ilkeston a roasting but having totally dominated the match we did not finish them off and got suckered by their one strike at goal in the half.”

Stevens hopes that Brazilian striker Felipe Barcelos can end his goal drought.” He has been a great signing for us and links up play so well but the goals have dried up in recent matches. This happens to strikers and he was unfortunate not to score against Ilkeston. He just needs to get one and I am confident the tap will run again!”

Town boast a run that includes no defeat in their last 12 home games and only 1 defeat in the last 22 games but now need to stay in the 13 team competition for the 5 play off places.”It is very tight at the top with us sitting just 3 points off the playoff places so we need to again put together a running sequence. We fear no one so going away and getting results is fine by us.”

Grantham go into the Marine fixture hoping to have left back Ellis Storey back in the team. “Ellis was playing well until his injury and we have missed his attacking runs down the left hand side which creates distraction and space for the strikers to move into. I am hoping that we have a full squad to choose from.”

With a fixture list that involves just one more home league game Town will be hoping they can reward their fans with a win tomorrow. Announced yesterday Grantham will host Clitheroe FC in the Integro League Cup Semi Final "I'm glad we don't have to go there especially for the fans who have a lot of miles to do between now and the end of the season"

Marine got their first win under new Manager Tommy Lawton last Saturday, 3-1 at home to Ashton United. Since his appointment Lawton has brought in an influx of new players in their quest to fight off any relegation threat.

The Gingerbreads will again be offering our family ticket, which is open to both Grantham and Marine fans. This allows entry for 2 adults and 2 children for just £15 (saving £11). To redeem the offer simply visit the ticket office in the foyer to buy the discounted family ticket.
