Gingerbreads Smash The Glassboys

By Simon Hayes

The Gingerbreads returned to 2nd place with an impressive win over Stourbridge.

Sam Osborne started in place of the unwell Curtis Burrows.

Lee Shaw thought he has put The Gingerbreads ahead but his shot rebounded off the cross bar.

On 23 minutes The Gingerbreads were ahead. Lee Shaw battled down the left and crossed to Andrew Wright who fired home.

Just after the half hour, Stourbridge were level. Tom Potts attempted to cut out at near post cross but poked it home instead.

With 5 minutes left in the half, it was time for The Gingerbreads to run riot.

On 40 minutes, Sam Osborne broke down the left, passes into the middle for Danny Meadows to rifle home from 18 yards! 2-1.

4 minutes later it was 3-1. Lee Shaw headed home his 28th goal of the season (all competitions)

Then it was Michael Hollingsworth turn to get on the score sheet. He found space in the box and fired the ball beyond the keeper.

The second half started very different, as Stourbridge were awarded a penalty in the opening minutes. Kieran Preston however got down low to his right, pushed the ball wide and out of danger.

The rest of the half saw Stourbridge try to get back into the match but The Gingerbread stood firm, while trying to counter attack at the same.

In added time Stourbridge did get a second goal.

Man of the match chosen by today's Match Sponsor was Sam Osborne, for a fantastic performance.
