Peterborough RTC 4 Grantham Town 1

NERF Junior Premier League
The game stated promisingly, despite a difficult pitch for passing, with both sides playing some attractive football. It was Peterborough that scored early when Joe Burborough received the ball on the left, turned inside and hit an excellent cross field ball into the path of Connor Bell who's pace took him clear, he steadied himself and passed the ball into the net for 1-0. Grantham played their part in the opening 20 mins though and were unlucky to losing at the end of the first quarter.
Peterborough started the second period the better side after making four changes, but as the period wore on Grantham started to impose themselves in midfield and a well constructed passing move down the left finished with a cross from the left deflected into his own net by George Warrington after stretching to block the ball.
The third period was when tempers started to flare with a player from each side receiving their marching orders after an innocuous challenge on the halfway line, but both players overreacted and the referee decided to send both off, when maybe a booking each was fairer. Peterborough used the extra space on the pitch well and took the lead when Josh Clark intercepted a Grantham pass, drove forward from midfield and finished from the edge of the box with a well placed shot. The third period finished 2-1, but not before another Grantham player was dismissed for an off the ball incident.
With an extra player Peterborough controlled possession in the final period and passed the ball around well. The win was beyond doubt when Liam Taylor's dipping shot from the corner of the box nestled in the top corner after good work from Dami Agboola and Connor Bell.
