Gingerbreads Welcome Shields

By Simon Hayes

Paul Rawden and Russ Cousins kick off their Evo-Stik League life with a visit from 2nd placed South Shields

tomorrow night at The Meres.

Rawden is not fazed by the task that lays ahead "We've had a good first week, we've looked at where we felt we could strengthen the squad. We've brought in players we trust, ones we know who are ready to fight for us and the club. We have thirteen matches and each one is important as we want to move up the table and away from the relegation places"

South Shields make the long trip down the A1 after dropping their first home points at the weekend to Bamber Bridge.

Russ explained "We've done all we can to find out as much as possible about South Shields. They've got some very experienced players who have been together a while. We're in a very different place but that means nothing, we're ready to take on everyone we meet. We have to be. We don't want to be saying at the end of the season, we didn't give everything."

Over the last week, there has been lots of coming and goings

Chris Dawson - Midfielder Bradford Park Avenue (loan)
Jordan Adebayo-Smith - Striker Lincoln City (loan)
Adam Smith - Winger
Michael Tweed - Defender Nuneaton Borough
Nathan Kelly - Striker Harrowby
Obaro Edobor - Defender Nuneaton Borough
Steve Chaplin - Striker Harrowby
Danny Brooks - Midfielder Harrowby
Sam Andrew - Goalkeeper Harrowby
Joe Briers - Midfielder Harrowby

Tom Siddons
Jamie McGhee
Ryley Thompson
Harry Gibbons
Kevin Hemagou
Antonio Jaquite

Rawden added "Any football follower can see that our supporters have had a real rollercoaster of a season so far. We're wanting our side to put everything into each match. I'm sure that's what every supporter wants too. I really want them to be saying after the match that we gave everything, whatever the result."

Tom Ward is doubtful for the match due to his ongoing injury. Cousins added "Tom's not been right for weeks, we have to be sensible with him. He's a big player in the squad, we have to not push him if he's not right."
