Coming through the youth set-up at Chesterfield, Adam went on to make 66 appearances at Chesterfield including a loan spell at Lincoln City. In 2008 Adam joined Gainsborough Trinity before a transfer to York City in 2009. Spells at Mansfield Tonw, Aldershot and a return to Lincoln City followed before a couple of seasons with Halifax Town. Guiseley, Alfreton Town and Bradford Park Avenue were next in his playing career before joining Matlock Town.
