Grantham return to the Meres for the first time in two weeks on Saturday as they play host to Buxton FC in the race for survival.

A 1-0 defeat to Witton Albion last weekend left joint managers Paul Rawden and Russ Cousins still looking for their first away win since taking charge of the Gingerbreads.

The defeat in Cheshire leaves Grantham hovering over the dreaded relegation zone in 18th place, six points clear of Mickleover Sports who occupy the final place in the bottom three.

However, the Gingerbreads will be boosted by having won both of their last two home games, with wins over South Shields and Matlock Town.

Buxton make the trip from Derbyshire with the play-offs in sight as they sit in seventh place only five points off the final play-off currently occupied by Gainsborough Trinity.

The previous encounter between the sides saw the visitors secure the three points with a 1-0 win back in October, with the Bucks having the better of the first half and the Gingerbreads having the better of the second.

Grantham boss Paul Rawden says his side need to start taking their chances in order to get the points: "We are creating opportunities and are looking like we are getting a good understanding of how we play.

"The next step now is to put these chances away and kill the game off early and get the points to climb up the table."

Rawden knows the task ahead of the rest of the season and his team will stop at nothing to secure survival: "This league is relentless and full of difficult opposition.

"The main aim in the short-term for this club this season is to make sure that we are still in this league by the end of the season.

"No game will be easy for us and its up to us and only us to make sure we get the wins that can keep us in this division."

The Gingerbreads made a new addition to the squad in the shape of Sam Grouse from Corby and the striker will available to be included in the match day squad for this weekend's fixture.

Chris Dawson has extended his loan with The Gingerbreads for a further month, from Bradford Park Avenue.

Rawden and Cousins have no other injuries to worry about and have a full squad to select from.
