Grantham play their final game of the season on Saturday as they make the trip to relegation-threatened Stalybridge Celtic.

The Gingerbreads have only pride to play for at the end of the season after confirming their safety on Easter Monday, despite a 2-0 defeat at home to Gainsborough Trinity.

With the help of Mickleover Sports losing 1-0 at home to Basford United last Monday, Paul Rawden's side has accrued enough points to remain four points clear of the drop zone in 17th with only one game to play.

Home side Stalybridge meanwhile have it all to play for at Bower Fold as they are still looking to secure survival as they remain one point clear of Mickleover in 19th.

A 1-0 defeat away at Hyde United on Monday made it five defeats in a row for Simon Haworth's side who know that a win will guarantee their place in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League for next season.

The main danger men for the Celtic on Saturday are striker Neil Kengin who has found the net 12 times for Stalybridge, as well as former FC United of Manchester striker Matthew Wolfenden who has seven goals this season.

It was Kengin who found the winning goal in the earlier meeting between the sides back in December as Stalybridge left the Meres with a 1-0 win.

Grantham boss Rawden wants his side to end the season on a high and stake a claim for next season: "Now we have secured survival, we want to finish the season as positively as we can and get the three points."

"For some of the players, they are playing for their futures and this is a great opportunity for them to stake a claim for their place next season by delivering a good performance.

"The fans have been excellent this season, travelling in their numbers and making plenty of noise and backing us in what has been a difficult season for the club. We want to repay them by giving them one last performance to cheer about."

Despite suffering a nasty head injury early on in Monday's game, Jack McGovern is expected to be fit for Saturday's game, whilst the rest of the squad is available for selection.

Tom Ward hasn't suffered any injuries by repeatedly lifting The Frank Baxter Cup after being named Fans Player of the Season on Monday, and is available for selection.
