It's the last game before Christmas for the Gingerbreads and they are in action at The Meres on Saturday against Stalybridge Celtic.

Town are in good spirits following an excellent 3-1 win away from home at Mickleover Sports last weekend.

Shaun Harrad and Bradley Fortnum-Tomlinson both scored their first goals for the club whilst a routine Ross Barrows wonder-strike were enough to bring the three points back from Derbyshire.

Saturday's win was also only the Gingerbreads' second win in five games.

The result leaves Grantham in 15th place with 25 points and now nine points clear of the drop zone.

Stalybridge, likewise to the Gingerbreads are also in and around the mid-table spots - currently sitting in 12th place and only two points ahead of Grantham on 27 points.

Unlike Town, Celtic fell to defeat last weekend, losing 3-2 away at South Shields to leave Stalybridge with just one win in their last five games.

Having not won at home since September, Grantham boss Richard Thomas is eager to channel the performance against Mickleover into this weekend's fixture: "I was very impressed with our performance last weekend.

"We worked our socks off for each other and we will need to do the same this weekend to stand a chance of winning.

"Its been frustrating for all of us as our performances at home of late have deserved more than what we have been getting recently.

"We are determined to get the three points and we will make sure we do."

Tom Ward returned to action last weekend by coming off the bench against Mickleover, however he is still not expected to be fit enough to play the full 90 minutes this weekend.

There are no other injury concerns to report.
