Michael Tweed replaced the injured Connor Bartle with Jake Green switching to left wing back.
The Gingerbreads dominated the first half hour, with Craig Westcarr having the best chance but his close range shot was well saved before the flag went up for offside. Jake Green was a constant attacking threat.
It was the Stafford centre half who undid The Gingerbreads defence. A long free kick was put into the box and the Stafford defender did enough to head the ball in.
That put The Gingerbreads on the back foot for the half but half time came with no difference to the scoreline.
Tweed was replaced by Fernando Toxtle-Bell as The Gingerbreads changed to a 4-4-2 formation.
The opening exchanges saw Stafford on the front foot. Their best chance came on the break away but Danny Racchi got a last ditch tackle in.
This picked The Gingerbreads up and they started to increase the pressure.
The game was level when Gregg Smith flicked on a long ball to Craig Westcarr. His ball found AJ Adelekan who fired in off the cross bar.
The Gingerbreads pushed forward and injury time had two great chances. The first saw substitute Ryan Baldwin's header excellently save and tipped over the bar by the Stafford keeper. The keeper was on hand again to save low down from Tom Ward.
