Grantham Town secured all three points against top of the table, Boston Town, courtesy of a cracking goal from Andy Wright.
A tight midweek game, away at Boston, saw few chances but was marked with controversy as two players were sent off, after a lower than average display from the officials.
The first half saw Grantham keeper, Steggs, called into action once with a good save using his feet.
Both teams looked good on the break, with the Grantham front three constantly pushing ably supported by Brad Munns and Dan Dougill in midfield.
However, the deadlock was broken by a cracking strike from Andy Wright, a goal worthy of winning any game.
The second half was a messy affair, with the referee seeming to constantly be stopping play. After a last gasp foul, Boston saw their number 5 sent off part way through the second period. This could easily have been followed by another, after Lee Shaw was blatantly pulled back with him and Terry Atem closing down on goal. From the ensuing free kick, Grantham captain Staino was penalised with a second yellow and had to leave the field of play. After over ten minutes of added time, the referee ended proceedings giving Grantham a well earned win.
Top marks to all of the team, who fought for the full hundred plus minutes, a great clean sheet and a game that the Grantham faithful, who were there in numbers, will not forget!
