MATCH REPORT
A fast start set the tone for a commanding performance as the team stormed to a 4–1 win, with Cam Johnson bagging a superb hat-trick and the side laying down a serious marker for the rest of the league.
Straight from the off, there was intent. A driving run down the right by the full-back drew a foul in a dangerous area. The resulting free-kick was delivered with precision into the box, where the centre-half — believed to be number 5 — rose highest and powered a header goalward. It looked to have crossed the line, but it was Cam Johnson who made absolutely sure, bundling it in from close range.
Johnson wasn’t done there. Not long after, he added a second — a cool finish that sent the team into half-time with a well-earned two-goal cushion.
The third goal came early in the second half — though some fans may have missed it while queueing at the bar. It was Mason Lee who found the net, taking full advantage of some tired defending to make it 3–0.
Cam Johnson then completed his hat-trick with a well-taken fourth — a confident, clinical finish that capped a standout individual display.
The only blemish on an otherwise near-perfect evening came late on, when the opposition grabbed a consolation in unfortunate fashion. A decent strike was initially well saved by Steggs, who pushed the ball onto the post — only for it to cruelly rebound off his head and into the net.
Still, the result was never in doubt. A strong, confident team performance with plenty of positives and a scoreline that sends a clear message: this team means business.
Post-match, Mase offered a measured summary:
“Man Utd were better than West Ham and deserved the win.”
You can’t argue with analysis like that.
