The Gingerbreads get their Emirates FA Cup campaign underway today against Sherwood Colliery. The match is being played at Rainworth Miners Welfare FC while work is being undertaken at Sherwood's Debdale Park ground.
Head Coach Louis Bland "This is what we've been building up to. We've taken a lot from pre-season, we have a lot of new players but also plenty of those from last season who formed bonds and an understanding as we battled to survival.
Obviously we played each other in pre-season but for us that was our first match and we had players missing. Likewise they would have been no different, I've been to watch them further along in pre-season. They're a good side with experienced players and young talent. We have made plans and we are very much looking forward to Saturday"
It will be the second season running that the two sides have met in the FA Cup. Rodrigo scored a late goal in a 3-1 defeat for The Gingerbreads in the Preliminary Round.
The winner will be away to winners of Yaxley FC v Godmanchester Rovers. If the match is level at full time, then it will be replayed on Tuesday night at The Meres
Unfortunately Lewis Daff suffered a fracture in his foot at training on Thursday night and is expected to be out for at least 6 weeks. Brad Rolt is still long term injured.
This week we have signed Max Cook (midfielder) from Chesterfield and Luca Burton (defender) has joined from Basford Utd
