Final Match of the Season

Following the wins at Liversedge on Monday and at Sheffield on Wednesday, The Gingerbreads go into the final match of the season knowing that they are safe from relegation

"It's been a fantastic week" said Head Coach, Louis Bland "I knew we could get the points required, when the Liversedge match was postponed we knew it would be harder but I had faith in the lads

Wednesday night was special, I can't describe how much they were determined to get the job done there. I think we all saw that once the first whistle went. We fought for every ball, put in last ditch tackles, got out as quick as we could. Both goals came from things we discussed. Getting Wardy at the front post to flick it on, Sisa was at the back post ready in wait. Curtis Morrison we kept back, knowing that they had pace and he could counter that. I thought Curtis had an unbelievable match. The second was exactly what we knew Harry could do, he is strong and you saw the way he bounced off the defenders.

The extra minutes added to the five given in added time were the longest I've ever known but when that final whistle went, it was incredible. The support I've had, the support the players have been given is phenomenal. I'm so pleased for everyone who was there or watching from home, we felt them all backing us."

Looking to the match on Saturday, "We want the fans to enjoy a day with no pressure, no looking at their phones seeing what the other teams are doing but we want to go get a result to finish as high as we can in the table. We've had a big week and we will have to make some changes. Winterton are going to want to get off the bottom, there could a reprieve for the team finish second from bottom so we know they'll be up for it. They've also beaten both Stockton and Dunston in the last few weeks"

If you're not going on either of the two coaches or travelling up by car to the match, then we will have updates on the Club's social media accounts.
