This week, Sophie Cope and Pete Railton joined the class of '74 and their partners to celebrate a 50 year reunion and also remember that match against Middlesbrough.
Ernie Nixon
Bob Norris
Jimmy Bloomer
Andy Crawford
Jimmy Jackson
Gerry Taylor
Brent Horobin
were all there and they were joined by the wife’s of Chris Gardiner, Terry Bly and Ron Harrison.
The former Gingerbreads spoke about the FA Cup they had that year, how Terry Bly brought a group of players together to form a formidable team and reminisced on what an amazing team spirit they shared.
Sophie Cope said at the day held at Sysonby Knoll Hotel "It's always an honour to share the company of arguably the most successful team in the clubs history. The bond they shared is clear to see and still remains as strong as ever. Terry Bly was fondly remembered for bringing through local young players, something hopefully the club are currently attempting to emulate. The team always keep an eye on our results to this day and will as always be invited to the Meres in the new season to once again support the gingerbreads and share the tales of the golden days with the fans"
That was a great team going Rochdale and winning 5-3 that was the best away match I watched UP the Town
