Matthew Lambley, Kieran and Lewis Smith

Three pupils from West Grantham Academy St Hugh’s have been honoured at their school for their achievements playing football for Grantham Town U13’s, the three boys all aged 12 are Matthew Lambley and twin brothers Lewis and Kieran Smith.

All 3 won the sports personality of the term award and were very proud to have their awards presented during a school assembly.

The boys are part of a team which was only assembled in the summer of 2015, however they have worked hard to gain a current position of 3rd in the Mid Lincs league division D at present.

The team has been fortunate enough to play inside the main Grantham Town stadium on a couple of occasions with teaching staff from the West Grantham Academy in attendance, and they were impressed with how the boys were developing and how they played. Both Lewis and Kieran netted hatricks in victory over Birchwood Colts and both boys went onto score the goals against Skegness Imps the following week. Matthew Lambley put in impressive performances as left back.

Manager Andy Lambley said ‘I’m really proud of how the team are working in training and their commitment during their matches, it was great to hear that Lewis, Kieran and Matthew had been given awards at their school for their efforts during this season’
