Tomorrow The Gingerbreads play their final home pre-season friendly.

Ilkeston Town FC, visit The Meres for the first time. In the last week they have parted company with their Manager.

On Tuesday night they beat Clifton All Whites, with a number of former Gingerbreads in their squad including Fabian Smith, Richard Stainsby and Kev Bastos.

The Gingerbreads rounded off a good week with a 2-1 win against League rivals Gainsborough Trinity in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup.

In a match that The Gingerbreads dominated new signing Tom Nicholson was hardly tested in the goal.

Chances fell for Craig Westcarr, Gregg Smith and Fernando Bell-Toxtle before Westcarr opened the scoring. On the half hour Connor Bartle put in a long throw, Westcarr found himself in a bit of space to head home.

Gregg Smith saw his shot tipped over after a deep cross from AJ Adelekan.

With less than 5 minutes of the first half to go, Westcarr put in a corner to Tom Ward to head the ball back to Rob Atkinson to head the ball in.

Gainsborough pushed on in the second half putting the ball long over the top. With a change in formation and The Gingerbreads making use of their substitions. The highly experienced Ross Hannah pulled one back for Trinity with 5 minutes to go.

The Gingerbreads stood firm and sealed a semifinal date with Boston United at York Street.

Manager Paul Rawden, "I can't not be happy with the performance from everyone. We've worked hard individual, in our groups and as a team. We've scored two good goals from routines we've been working on. It's another good tick in our progress to be ready for the start of the season. We changed formation in the second half to counter their change of play, that's given me a few thoughts on where we need to work. Although we ended up with them being in the ascendancy we've not been under that much real pressure."

"We've got two matches against teams who you'd expect to be up there in the league below. Both will be good work outs for us."
