After starting the match with a side of players confirmed as signed for the season, Rawden and Cousins had a complete change of side at half time.
Rawden explained "Apart from Michael Tweed, Adam Smith and Fernando Bell-Toxtle, they were all trialists for us. With Academy players pushing hard to be involved week in, week out. We had to see them in a game situation. You always learn a lot more from players in a match than on the training pitch. We'll give them some more time on the pitch over the course of the early friendlies."
Grimsby come to The Meres on the back of an 8-0 win at Cleethorpes on Saturday, playing in the match was former Grantham loanee Harry Clifton "As soon as we announced we were playing Grimsby, everyone had mentioned Harry to me. He really made a great impression round the club. He's obviously kicked on from there and has appeared for the Welsh U21s this summer. For everyone at the club, I hope he is involved."
Kick off is at 7:30pm.
Admission to all friendlies, apart from the 'Pay What You Think' match against Nuneaton Borough, is as follows
