rantham Town FC overcame a nervy start to produce a confident and ultimately deserved victory over Louth Town FC in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy Final 2026.
Louth made the brighter opening and gave Grantham a couple of early scares, forcing the Gingerbreads to stay alert defensively. But after the half-hour mark, Grantham began to settle, taking more control of possession and pushing their opponents further back.
The breakthrough came before the interval and it was no surprise to see man of the match Lee Shaw at the heart of it. Reacting quickest inside the box, Shaw showed great composure to finish smartly and give Grantham a crucial first-half lead.
Buoyed by the goal, Grantham grew in confidence. The midfield started to dictate the tempo, while the defence remained organised and disciplined to limit Louth’s attacking threat.
The Gingerbreads made the game safe in the second half with a moment of real quality. A well-worked move created the opening and Alex Roberts applied a calm and tidy finish to double the advantage and put Grantham firmly in command.
From there, Grantham managed the game professionally, showing maturity and determination to see out the closing stages. Louth continued to battle, but clear chances were limited as the Gingerbreads stayed solid and focused.
At the final whistle, celebrations began as Grantham Town were crowned Lincolnshire Senior Trophy winners 2026, a performance built on resilience, control and clinical finishing when it mattered most.
