FA Cup weekend is in full swing for Grantham again this weekend as they play league rivals Nantwich Town in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

The Gingerbreads make the trip on the back of a heart-breaking 2-2 draw with Matlock which saw Paul Rawden's side surrender a two goal lead.

Debutant Chib Chilaka, who led the line for the Black and White army, gave Grantham the lead with a headed goal from a corner before lively winger Ryan Hall calmly slotted past the on-rushing goalkeeper to make it two for the Gingerbreads.

A deflected Marcus Marshall effort made it 2-1 three minutes before injury time, however Grantham couldn't hold on as Luke Hinsley scored a last minute equaliser to give the hosts a share of the spoils.

The result leaves the Gingerbreads in 11th place and still with a game in hand on most teams around them.

Cheshire side Nantwich however come into the game on the back of defeat - losing 3-1 at home to local rivals Warrington Town.

The result meant the Dabbers dropped to ninth in the table and are only a point clear of the Gingerbreads in the early league standings

David Cooke's side have an array of talent which took Nantwich to the play-offs last season which includes midfielder Sean Cooke.

Cooke found the back of the net 13 times last season and also provided 12 assists as his contributions proved vital in Nantwich's run to the play-offs.

Another danger man for the hosts is centre midfielder James Lawrie who managed to grab eight goals and nine assists last season after signing from Hednesford Town.

The last meeting between the two sides also took place at the Weaver Stadium as the two sides couldn't be separated in a 1-1 draw.

Sean Cooke scored from the penalty spot for the hosts before Shane Benjamin found an equalising goal for the Gingerbreads in the second half.

Grantham boss Paul Rawden is hoping that his side can take the positives from Tuesday night's game into Saturday's game as well as learn from their mistakes:

"We were all very disappointed with how it ended on Tuesday.

"We had played really well and two lapses of concentration right at the end cost us.

"Concentration will be key for us on Saturday. They score goals and we can't let them have that opportunity.

"Saturday provides us with a very different sort of test. As it's a cup game, both teams are going to want to attack and go for it and try not to get a replay, especially with the busy schedules we both have.

"It's going to be a tough game. We are missing a couple of players, but we will adapt and put out a side that we feel is going to get us a win and into the draw for the next round."

Striker Chib Chilaka will miss Saturday's fixture as he is cup tied whilst defender Tom Ward will also sit out the game due to suspension.

AJ Adelekan is a doubt after being substituted due to injury on Tuesday, as well as Craig Westcarr who was an unused substitute at Matlock. Rob Atkinson is also doubtful after missing Tuesday night due to a pulled quad.

Connor Bartle is also expected to play no role due to his ongoing injury.
