The best way to keep up to date with Grantham Town FC

Trip To The Seaside For The Gingerbreads

1 week ago By Callum Boyle

With all the bad weather hopefully gone now, Grantham travel to Yorkshire to face Whitby Town this weekend.

After being a victim to the weather on Monday night again, the Gingerbreads are still yet to have played since the 3-1 defeat away to Nantwich Town. That defeat had ended a previous run of seven games unbeaten for Town.

Luckily for Grantham, other sides have also been affected by the poor weather, therefore leaving them in 6th place and now just one point off the play-off places.

The Seasiders, also known as Whitby Town, meanwhile will be aiming to consolidate survival in the league as they currently lie 20th place in the league - thirteen points clear of the dreaded drop.

The Blues also lost in their last outing in a 1-0 defeat away to Witton Albion. That result was Whitby's first defeat in their previous five league games.

The last result between the sides saw Grantham emerge 2-0 victors earlier on in the season with goals coming from joint-top league goalscorer and Danny Meadows.

Grantham manager Adam Stevens says his side need to remain consistent as they continue their battle for promotion: "In order to get promoted you need to be consistent in this league, there's no denying it. We can't afford to slip up as we know somebody could be there waiting to take the place we all want.
By playing to our best ability and remaining focused, we will give ourselves a good chance of getting promotion."

Tom Batchelor will be serving the last game of his suspension whilst Luke Shaw edges closer to a return to the side after nursing a long term injury - leaving them two unavailable. There are no other injury concerns.
