Gingerbreads Are Back On The Road Again

By Callum Boyle

Its a second consecutive away trip for Grantham this weekend as they make the trip to Wincham Park to face Witton Albion.

It wasn't to be for the Gingerbreads last Saturday as they fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Hednesford Town.

Following on from two first half goals, including one wonder strike, Chris Dawson was only able to provide a late consolation as he pulled one back in injury time.

The result meant the Gingerbreads dropped a place in the table to 17th, remaining six points clear of the relegation zone and with two wins from their last five games.

Cheshire-based Witton Albion have been in excellent form recently, picking up four wins out of five in all competitions and lie in 10th place with an opportunity to climb to eighth with three points this weekend.

Albion come into the game off the back of an impressive 2-1 win at home to play-off hopefuls Scarborough Athletic however a play-off push for Witton is unlikely as they still remain 11 points off the final play-off berth.

Grantham boss Paul Rawden said that it is important that his side start well in order to get the points this weekend: "Last week at Hednesford I didn't think we really got going straight away and when we did, we had already left ourselves with too much to do.

"This week its vital we correct that and get into gear from the off. We have a talented squad who are always learning and must learn to adapt to different styles played by different teams.

"We can go there and cause problems and I've got no doubt its going to be a very close encounter."

Currently there are no new injury concerns to report, giving Rawden and Russ Cousins a full squad to select from as Sam Cartwright is available following the injury that kept him out last week.

Tom Ward has been eating his spinach this week alongside doing his stretches, and is again fully fit.
