Five in a Row?

2 weeks ago By Callum Boyle

Grantham will be looking to make it five wins in a row when they host Lancaster City at the Meres on Saturday.

The Gingerbreads have been playing some excellent football of late, continuing so with a 3-1 win away to Hendesford on Tuesday night. The impressive result against the Pitmen saw Grantham move up to 4th in the table and are now just five points off the top of the table.

To add to the excellent form, the Gingerbreads have now gone seven games unbeaten and haven't lost since October 7th against Stafford Rangers.

Lancaster meanwhile, also known as the Dolly Blues, have had a fairly impressive start to the season sitting 10th in the league and sit five points off Grantham. The Dolly Blues managed to also win on Tuesday night, securing an emphatic 3-0 win at home to Marine, extending their run to three wins in their last five.

Grantham and Lancaster are yet to meet in any competitions this season and are looking forward to their first competitive match of the season with each other following Lancaster's promotion last season from the EVO STIK North.

Grantham manager Adam Stevens has said his side will need to be 100% focused ahead of Saturday's tie: "This is another important game in a season where every game counts. Lancaster are a good opposition and just because they got promoted last season does not mean that we take them lightly. We'll make sure every player is 100% focused and will be ready to get three points."

Luke Shaw still remains a doubt for Saturday with a knee injury whilst Stefan Galinski is now also a doubt after being taken off with an injury on Tuesday night. The rest of the squad remains fit for Saturday.

Entry to the match is free for serving members of the Armed Forces. To gain entry please produce your Forces card.
