It was a Saturday to forget for Grantham fans at the weekend, as they were comfortably beaten by South Shields in a 5-0 defeat. The defeat, which was the second consecutive loss for the Gingerbreads, saw them fall further behind the play-off chasing pack, into eighth place and three points behind fifth placed Stalybridge Celtic in the relatively early standings.
Buxton meanwhile were given a rare Saturday off due to Gainsborough Trinity's involvement in the FA Cup. The Bucks however do come into the game in winning form after co-incidentally beating South Shields last Tuesday at the Silverlands with a 2-0 victory. The Bucks sit in sixth place at present - only outside the play-off spots on goal difference.
In general, both sides come into the game in relatively good form, with the Gingerbreads losing two of their past five games - albeit the two defeats coming back to back whereas the Bucks have only lost one of their previous five games.
Grantham boss Ian Culverhouse has said Saturday's result was unacceptable, however his side can't feel sorry for themselves: "Plain and simple, we were not good enough on Saturday. We were second best in every department and we need to make amends for the fans who made that long journey as well as the fans who support us at home too. We can't sit here and feel sorry for ourselves as we have another tough test on Tuesday night. The key will be to have energy, desire and skill if we are to get something out of this game. We have the ability and I am confident that we can get back to winning ways."
Tom Batchelor and Morgan Penfold are still long term absentees through injury whilst the rest of the squad will all be available for selection.
