Workington were reduced 3 minutes later when captain Gari Rowntree picked up a second booking.
From this point on, Workington defended deep and The Gingerbreads camped themselves in their half.
Danny Meadows came on and started creating more opportunities for The Gingerbreads. But it took until the 89th minute to get the equaliser. Danny Meadows whipped a cross in and Rhys Lewis headed home.
The Gingerbreads almost got a 3rd but Danny Meadows cross eluded everyone.
