Boxing Day Delight For The Gingerbreads
With the club mourning the loss of David Dunne at the weekend, the players put on a display against Corby Town to put a smile on everyone's faces.
The home crowd was boosted by families who had taken up the Family Ticket offer, looking for a 6th win in 8 matches for The Gingerbreads.
Manager Adam Stevens, named the same starting line up that took beat Hednesford the previous week.
The Gingerbreads started slowly, but just before the half hour were given a penalty, Luke Shaw stepped up and fired home to the goalkeepers left WATCH IT HERE
5 minutes later it was 2-0 to The Gingerbreads, Jeremiah Dasalou beat two Corby players in the box and was able to slot home into the net.
By now The Gingerbreads, were back up to speed and pressing Corby from the front. Halftime was reached with no trouble.
The Gingerbreads carried on as they were in the second half. Corby threatened little and it was The Gingerbreads who managed to pull further clear on the hour. Lee Shaw was set free with a ball over the top. He round the out coming keeper and rolled the ball home to make it 3-0.
Just 3 minutes later it was 4-0, Rhys Lewis attacked a cross and bundled the ball across the line.
With The Gingerbreads travelling to Buxton on Thursday night, Adam Stevens took advantage of being able to rest some players and give others much needed game time. Michael Hollingsworth, Andy Wright and Curtis Burrows all came on.
Corby for the final 15 minutes looked the liveliest they had all match, however they could not break the solid Gingerbreads defence.
