Grantham Town U13's first home victory
A second win for the young Gingerbreads
Grantham Town U13's welcomed Boston United Community for the first time on a pleasant morning at the Mere's stadium.
The visitors started brightly and attacked from the off and put the Grantham defence to work, then in Grantham's first attack on 3 minutes, Lewis Smith was quick to the ball and he rounded the keeper to put the Gingerbreads 1-0 up.
It was only 3 minutes later when the hosts doubled their lead with some good work in midfield which again found Lewis Smith who fired past the keeper.
Boston had chances of their own and Ollie Burton and Tom Clark in central defence were on top of their game to keep them out.
On 14 minutes the young Gingerbreads extended their lead with a second goal of the season for liam Ginnelly.
The play from then on was fairly even with chances at both ends but no further goals before the half time whistle.
Boston came into the match more in the second period winning a few corners and forcing Davis Kalnis to make a couple of good saves in the Grantham goal, defensive work from Tom Clark also helped the Gingerbreads as the visitors tried to get back into the game.
On 40 minutes Lewis Smith scored his third of the game as he out paced his marker to put his team 4-0 in front.
Jack Carroll had a couple of good chances to add to the tally however the Boston keeper did well to keep them out.
At the final whistle Tom Clark was named Grantham man of the match.
