Grantham hit top spot
The young Gingerbreads win their 4th match in a row
An early afternoon kick off saw Market Rasen visit the Mere's for the first time.
The opponents came straight out of the blocks attacking and forced a couple of early corners which the Grantham defence had to deal with. Market Rasen kept better possession in the early exchanges and created some good chances.
Then on 5 minutes Grantham broke forward and a ball from Ollie Burton was met by Luke Pulfrey who sweetly fired home to put the hosts 1-0 up.
This fired up the Gingerbreads who came into the game more although the visitors still looked very dangerous going forward with some good moves however Grantham defended well to keep their lead.
Grantham's lead was doubled on 10 minutes when Lewis Smith was put through to fire home.
Market Rasen continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded on 14 minutes with a good strike that beat the keeper to make the score 2-1.
And 10 minutes later the visitors were level after some good work and a fine finish .
Both sides had chances from then on but it was Grantham's Lewis Smith who chipped a ball over the Market Rasen keeper to put Grantham 3-2 up on 27 minutes.
The second half was a high tempo affair with both teams producing chances, Matthew Smith almost added to the hosts advantage but he saw his long range shot go wide of the target.
Market Rasen had plenty of chances to level up the score however Tom Clark in defence and Davis Kalnis in goal were on good form to deny the visitors.
The last few minutes were very tense for the Gingerbreads as Market Rasen worked hard to find an equalizer, but Grantham had just done enough as the referee blew his whistle to end the game.
Davis Kalnis was named as Grantham Town man of the match.
