Grantham Town's Under 13's started their league season with a defeat against a strong Louth Old Boys side.
Louth OB had taken an early lead within 5 minutes of the whistle, the goal coming from a corner.
On 20 minutes Grantham were back in the game when the pacey Lewis Smith was put through on goal and calming slotted the ball home after rounding the keeper.
There were plenty of chances at either end but no further goals in the first half.
Louth OB started the stronger in the second period, creating lots of chances and winning a number of corners, Harry Pulfrey made some fine saves to deny Louth OB on several occasions.
Eventually the Louth OB pressure told and they went 2-1 up, Grantham battled hard to find an equalizer but find themselves 3-1 down moments later with a good strike into the back of the net. All of a sudden the good work Grantham had achieved was dented some more as Louth OB scored their fourth of the match.
Grantham however weren't finished yet as some good work going forward found Matt Smith who fired home to make it 2-4.
Grantham went looking for a third and were caught out as Louth OB scored a fifth to secure the points.
There was time for a last minute consolation for the Gingerbreads when Matthew Lambley put a ball to Lewis Smith who crashed home his second of the game.
