The Gingerbreads derby with Lincoln United has been given the all clear after a 9am pitch inspection.
Despite freezing temperatures early on Friday night and no overnight rain, the rise in temperatures has led to the pitch being given the all clear for the game.
Grantham joint managers Wayne Hallcro and Jimmy Albans will hope the squad that battled for a point at Witton Albion two weeks ago all report fit and ready to go as their squad has been thinned by departures this week. Some rebuilding is required in the New Year as on the back of their cull a few weeks back of players not cutting the mustard and players like Dan French and Adam Jones leaving, another three have departed.
Before the recent wage cut, a seven day notice had been received from
Carlton
Town for Rob Norris. The winger, who had struggled to get a regular place, or impress when he came on in recent weeks, decided to accept their offer. Also leaving this week are Ricky Hanson and Chris Gray. Hanson has missed 6 of the last 11 games through injury and joins Glapwell. Gray has also had an injury plagues time at the Meres. Despite committing to stay only a few weeks ago, Gray leaves for Shepshed with only 3 appearances under his belt.
Similar to Grantham, Lincoln United did not play last Saturday. A blank weekend which former Grantham manager John Wilkinson will not have wanted as his side won at Belper the weekend before to break a run of four defeats. A host of familiar faces will visit the Meres along with Wilkinson. Mario Ziccardi, Brendan McDaid, Sam Wilkinson and Ian Wilkins are among those who have played for both clubs recently and for more than one spell!
Squad: Ayden Duffy, Richard Stainsby, Sam Saunders, Gary Sucharewycz, Wayne Hallcro, Alistair Asher, Danny Brooks Jack Simmons, Nail O’Rafferty, Dave Frecklington, Ian Robinson, Lee Potts, Gio Carchedi, Martin Wormall, Ben Saunders, Nick Langford.
