The Gingerbreads joint management team have a busier week than usual at the Meres. With loan agreements up this week, Jimmy Albans and Wayne Hallcro know they may have some quick work to do.
“Every week is a busy week at Grantham.” Said Albans. This week has already seen some loan action with more to come.
Danny Hargreaves and Danny Brooks have both signed forms for Lincoln Moorlands and will play in the Moors game at Rainworth on Tuesday 9th January. Hargreaves is expected to return to the Grantham side on Saturday when

Town visit the Meres while Brooks will stay for a short time at Moorlands.
“Danny Hargreaves hasn’t had a lot of football since his suspension started in December. Although it was three games, it was six weeks because of postponements. He needs a full game to get his match sharpness back.” Hallcro said. “We have been trying to get Danny Brooks to go on loan for a while now to get some full games. His season just hasn’t got going since his pre-season injury. He hasn’t been fit enough and when he has come on recently late in games, you can see he is missing playing. A few games with Lincoln Moorlands will give Grantham more of the player he can be when he comes back.”
Moorlands have increased their Grantham connections since appointing Chris Moyses as their manager. Dave Frecklington has left the Gingerbreads to join Moyses and his assistant, another former Gingerbread, Baz Barker.
Albans and Hallcro are also expecting some frantic activity at the end of the week. The loans of
Mansfield trio Niall O’Rafferty, Nick Langford and Sam Persicoe all expire on Thursday February 11th. The Gingerbreads bosses don’t know if they will be able to keep any or all of the three players.
“We don’t know yet whether
Mansfield will let us keep the players, or if the club can afford it.” Albans said. “We would like to keep all three, but it is the time of year when pro clubs talk about contracts for next year and neither ourselves nor the lads know what is in
Mansfield’s minds. We will talk to them and see how the land lies, then talk to the club and see what we can do.”
With Frecklington joining Lincoln Moorlands and Brooks expected to be on loan there, if the loans have to end, Albans and Hallcro will be left with very little time to fill gaps in their squad before Saturday. The Gingerbreads have signed Kieron Davies, an 18 year old midfielder from the Boston United youth team and will also have striker Chris Hewitt back from his loan spell at Clipston Welfare.
