Late Despair For The Gingerbreads

1 month ago By Simon Hayes

Chorley fought back to win late on, after The Gingerbreads had raced to a 3-1 half time lead.

The Gingerbreads opened the scoring on 9 minutes when Danny Meadows headed home a Curtis Burrows cross.

On 19 minutes Chorley equalised when Jason Walker curled the ball in from the edge of the box.

Just before the half hour, The Gingerbreads were back infront. Andrew Wright played the ball forward to Lee Shaw who was able to run onto it and fire it home.

It was Lee Shaw again who put The Gingerbreads two goals infront on the stroke of halftime. Another long ball forward was controlled and then rifled in from 20 yards.

Five minutes into the second half, Lee Shaw almost got a fourth for The Gingerbreds but his shot went agonisingly wide.

From there, Chorley seemed to step up another gear.

A Josh Wilson double meant that the last half hour both sides went looking for a winner.

For all their endeavor The Gingerbreads couldn't find a way through.

The came the killer blow, on 89 minutes. Chorley broke forward and their striker drilled the ball home from 20 yards.
